Lake Kukkiajärvi is an ideal lake for paddling with its islands, bays and headlands.
It is a good body of water for a calm, nature-listening kayaker.

The lake is very rocky and shallow in places, so you have to keep an eye out for underwater rocks.

You can use canoe carts to pull the canoes to the beach from the outdoor office.

The Luopioinen beach has a special pier made for canoes,
which makes it easier to get in and out of the canoe.

Huhtisaari Route
round trip 22 km

Kuivassalmi, the dry strait, is an old waterway between eastern and western Kukkiajärvi.

A road now runs through the strait, which is why canoes have to be carried across the strait.

On the northern shore of Kuivassalmi, at the foot of a cliff, is the Salminkallio rock painting. The painting is a couple of meters long and is located about 6 m above the current level of the lake.

Based on its location, the painting has been dated to the Stone Age or Bronze Age. About 60 meters east of the painting is the Kuivassalmi Stone Age settlement. There are several other Stone Age settlements in Kukkia.

The narrow Lepsinsalmi strait with its water lilies is a beautiful place.

Great place for hiking or just enjoying nature. Very suitable for camping

Lehmisaari Rock, located south of Evinsalo in Kukkia, is a scenically impressive, high veined gneiss rock that has been a focal point for many travelers traveling through Kukkia over time.

On top of it is a monument protected by the Antiquities Act, a mound made of angular stones. According to tradition, the mound is a “crusade-era fortress” or a place of sacrifice for the Lapps.
